Terms of use
These terms are between you and Bark & Olive LLC ("we"), who make Lob Golf ("Lob"). By playing Lob you agree to them. Apple's standard licence for App Store apps also applies; where the two differ, these terms add to it. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
Playing Lob
- Today's nine holes are free to play, every day.
- Your first round of each day counts on the boards; later rounds that day are for fun. Our server replays every counted round to check the score.
- Nothing you buy or watch changes a shot, a score or a board.
- Lob is a live game: courses, boards and features change over time, and we may stop offering parts of it. If we ever close Lob, we'll say so in the app first.
Fair play
Play your own rounds. Don't cheat, tamper with the app or its traffic, send rounds you didn't play, use bots, or try to get into other players' accounts or our server. Board names must not be offensive, impersonate anyone or carry personal details. We may refuse a round, remove a score, rename or hide a board name, or close an account that breaks these rules, and we'll tell you why if you ask.
Buying in Lob
Everything is bought through Apple with your Apple Account, and Apple's media services terms apply to payment. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
- Lob Without Ads + Every Course: a one-time purchase ($4.99 in the US). No ads, ever, and every past course to play.
- Lob Club: a membership, yearly ($19.99 a year in the US) or monthly ($2.99 a month). It includes everything in "Lob Without Ads + Every Course" for as long as you're a member, plus both nines as one 18, Tour Mode, more stats in My game and app icons. What's included is shown on the screen before you join. Prices elsewhere are the App Store's price for your country.
How Lob Club renews
- Your membership renews automatically at the end of each year or month, at the price at that time, unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- When you join, Apple charges your Apple Account straight away or, if you start with the free month, when it ends. Each renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a renewal payment fails, Apple keeps trying for up to 16 days, and you keep the Club while it does.
- If the price ever changes, Apple tells you first and, where the law or Apple's rules require it, asks you to agree.
The free first month
- New members may get their first month free. Apple decides who is eligible: it's one free period per Apple Account, so if you've had it before, the app won't offer it.
- The app shows the date the free month ends. On that date you're charged for the plan you chose, and it renews from then on, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the free month ends.
- If you cancel during the free month, Apple may end your access at once.
Cancelling
- Cancel in your iPhone's Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Lob Club. Lob's Settings has a "Manage membership" row that opens the same page.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep the Club until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Deleting the app or your Lob account does not cancel a membership; only Apple can.
- When a membership ends, you go back to exactly what you had before: free, or "Lob Without Ads + Every Course" if you bought it. "Lob Without Ads + Every Course" is yours for good either way.
Refunds
Apple handles every payment, so refunds are through Apple, under Apple's rules: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves. This doesn't take away any right you have under your local consumer law. If Apple refunds a purchase, what it unlocked is removed.
Family Sharing
"Lob Without Ads + Every Course" and Lob Club both work with Apple's Family Sharing. If the buyer has Family Sharing set up with purchase sharing on, family members get the same on their own Apple Accounts at no extra cost. A shared membership ends for everyone when the buyer's ends, or for a family member who leaves the family group.
Restoring purchases
On a new phone, signed in to the same Apple Account, tap Restore purchases in Lob's Settings. Signing in to your Lob account (Settings, Sign in with email) brings back your scores and board name. See Support.
Ads
Free players see a few ads, never during a round, on the card or on the share. Ads are capped at Google's "G" rating, for general audiences. Some ads are optional: watching one opens yesterday's course. The ads come from Google; we don't make or endorse them.
Your account
Lob makes a hidden account for you, with no name or email. You can add an email (Settings, Sign in with email) to keep it on another phone, and delete it at any time in Settings (Delete my account). Don't share the sign-in codes we email you.
Who owns what
Lob, its paintings, sounds, words and code belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to play it for your own enjoyment. Course shapes come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence; the credits in the app link to our changes) and public laser surveys (the U.S. Geological Survey's 3D Elevation Program; England's Environment Agency LIDAR, © Environment Agency copyright and/or database right, which contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0; New Zealand's LiDAR elevation data, sourced from the LINZ Data Service and licensed by Kāpiti Coast District Council, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence), shaped into game holes. The hills on the horizon use Copernicus WorldDEM (© DLR e.V. 2010-2014 and © Airbus Defence and Space GmbH 2014-2018, provided under COPERNICUS by the European Union and ESA), and the climate zones come from the Köppen-Geiger maps by Beck et al. (2023), under CC BY 4.0. Courses are named by place, never by club, and are not maps for real-world use.
If things go wrong
We make Lob with care, but we provide it as it is and as available: it may sometimes be down or have bugs, and a board may be corrected after the fact. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law that can't be limited, including as a consumer.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; we'll change the date at the top and, for big changes, say so in the app first. If you keep playing, the new terms apply. These terms are governed by the laws of [FILL: country or state whose law governs], without taking away the protection of the laws of the country you live in.
